Coalizing Against Fatmisic and Sanist Targeted Ads of Oppression

5 strategies for mobilizing against fatmisia

1

Understanding the algorithm with the goal of using it to our advantage. The more we engage with this resistance as a practice, the less we become force-fed fatmisic and thin supremacist ideologies, which disrupts these systems' capacities to inculcate us further while making it easier for us to continue our resistance.

2

Come together in community to learn about fatmisia, sanism, ableism, and their interconnectedness with other systems of oppression. Learning that our painful and embodied feelings are not individual pathologies, but are rather intentionally, systemically, and systematically affected in us to propagate violentsystems and social control not only marks the systems that need to be challenged, but also capacitates us to carry out this resistance.

3

Follow diversely positioned scholars, activists, artists, and doctors who are fat, who identify with dis/ordered eating, and those who do work in fat studies, CEDS, the Mad movement, and fat liberation. Block people who promote weight-loss products or fatmisia.

4

We are calling for forming collectives, connections, and formal and informal care webs. This may also include mutual aid projects and forming aid pods, as related to strategy five. Be cared for by, and take care of, one another in both online and offline communities.

5

The final interconnected strategy calls for direct action. This can look like creating and circulating fat liberationist zines, holding protests, boycotting businesses, executing letter-writing campaigns, circulating petitions, and making or sharing fat liberationist social media content.
